Decorating With A Boy in Mind

Redecorating for a child who has outgrown the look that the room was once done is can be a very exciting time in not only your life but in your young mans life. You need to make sure that the style you decorate this room is will show the personality of your little guy. Have them be able to put in some input as far as what is bought to do the room in, color and accessory wise.

You will need to figure out what theme you will be completely the new decor in. This can actually either be very tough, or simple. Your child will most likely have many types of interests. But try and see what their absolute favorite is and change the theme to this style. It may be a cartoon they absolutely love, or even a movie that they want to see again and again. Books are another good way to come up with a new theme idea.

If not, you may have to help him decide among a multitude of options. Whatever theme is selected, the marketplace stands ready to provide you with an impressive array of offerings that are theme related. Paint colors, bed coverings, wall coverings, rugs, lamps and bed lights, furniture, desks, etc. can all be themed and coordinated.

Once a decision has been made on the room theme, the rest of the project goes fast. If the theme chosen is Disney World, say, your son can be surrounded by elves and princes and princesses and Lion King and cartoon characters and on and on. The characters can be on his walls, on his bed, on his area rug and also on his ceiling. He can live with them and visit them as often as he likes.

How about a jungle theme you can get those walls and paint them in some nice greens or browns; adding in some borders that have jungle pictures on them or a bedspread that has some animals from the jungle on them. Don\’t forget to add a nice jungle themed rug to the room.

With a theme like sports, his walls can be covered in college and professional player posters, his lamp can be a football, his rug can be a gridiron.

Race cars or dinosaurs are some other choices that a lot of young boys will pick for their theme. You can buy some great looking dinosaur pictures to put up on the wall and get many other accessories to make the room one that looks prehistoric.

A unique idea is to have your little guy paint on a wall, this will be their own addition to the room, and will surely bring in their personality. Plus it will be an excellent way to let out some of his creative juices. Or go and have a football field placed on the wall with a picture of your little guy running down the field. Either way it will add nicely to the room.

This room will be a great project for you and your little one to do together. Your son will feel great about adding to the project too.
